Childhood Stuffies - Pyesetz

When I decided to create these photos and put them online, it was the work of a moment to find the dolls.  They were in the first place I looked, although I haven't held them in over ten years.  They're ugly now, but they used to be beautiful and I remember them fondly.  Usually I fuss with a camera and photo editor for quite a while, but these pictures were completed in minutes; I knew what I wanted to do and I did it.  You can draw your own conclusions about how these dolls relate to my phenotypes.

The Three-dog Display:

It's a collage!  Sorry I'm not much of an artist.

The stuffie is blind (reinked eyes) and his legs are too wobbly to hold him up.  All you can see of him in this picture is his head and tail, and hints of the back legs (yes, the head is gigantic relative to its body).  When I try to think of his name, I remember "Clownie Dum Dum" which was a different doll, so -- why not? -- call him "Doggie Dum Dum"!

I made the wooden dog in shop class.  This was just around the time they decided not to allow the kids to paint their work anymore, so it was never finished.  The wooden dog's back is holding up Doggie Dum Dum's mouth; otherwise he would fall down.

The photo is of a childhood pet.  He was a Lhasa Apso.

Larry the Lion:

Larry the lion

Larry is blind (the purple felt areas used to have eyes on top) and his fur is permanently matted.  The snout is plastic.

Originally, there was a drawstring attached to a plastic record player with phrases such as, "I'm Larry the Lion! Rroarr!  You Wanna Fight?"  Internally, the record player was attached to the mouth via a plastic wire, so Larry would appear to speak.  Eventually the record player broke, so I performed surgery on the stuffie and removed it.  Now Larry has a large slit where his guts used to be.

In this photo, my hand is inside Larry's belly, holding the mouth wire.  By yanking on the wire I can make his mouth close up a little and then open again.  Effectively, Larry has become a puppet.
